EchoStep Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data EchoStep collects, why it is collected, and how it is used to provide licensing, activation, and support for the app and website.
Information We Collect
When you buy EchoStep, your payment provider may share your name, email address, and order details so we can issue and support your license.
When you activate EchoStep, the app generates a Hardware ID (HWID) on your device and sends it to our licensing backend so we can bind the license to that machine.
We may also receive basic operational data needed to run the service, such as license status, activation counts, and support-related records.
How We Use Data
- To issue, validate, and support licenses.
- To bind a license to a device and prevent unauthorized sharing.
- To show activation status and renewal state in the app.
- To help you restore access if you change machines or need support.
We do not use your license data to monitor your screen, inspect your automations, or collect the contents of your recordings.
What EchoStep Stores Locally
EchoStep stores a small encrypted activation cache on your device so that already-activated installs can continue to work offline for a limited period.
The local cache is used only for license verification and app access. It is not a telemetry store.
Where Data Is Stored
License records are stored in our Cloudflare D1 database and processed by our Cloudflare Worker licensing service.
Website and purchase flows are handled by our website and payment provider. The exact provider may change over time, but the purpose remains the same: to process payment and issue the license.
We do not sell your personal information.
Offline Recovery If the Backend Is Retired
If we ever shut down the live licensing backend, we may export the minimum license data needed to keep existing customers running and email them a signed offline license file.
Those files are intended only to preserve access to the app and are bound to the relevant machine where applicable.
Retention
We keep license and order data for as long as needed to operate the product, provide support, and meet legal/accounting requirements.
If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so where we are able to and where we are not required to keep it.
Your Choices
- You can contact us to update your license or support email address.
- You can request help moving a license to a new machine.
- You can ask us to delete account and license records subject to legal obligations.
